Lcp Tyler L.Cowart

Lumberton, Texas

Lcp Cowart embodies the godly spirit that continues to shape our great nation. During Cowart's second year of college he felt called to serve his country during a time of war. He fought on the front lines in Fallujah, Iraq as an infantryman with 2/7 Golf Company. Cowart's fluent Arabic helped forge relationships with the Iraqi village familes. Cowart's love for children was apparent as he was always handing out candy to the young and requesting care packages from home for the children. Lcp Cowart's second tour in Afghanistan was a much more difficult time. The Commander In Chief ordered a historical occupation of the 2/7 Marines into Afghanistan without weapons support or a military FOB. Lcp Cowart lead his team daily in prayer before every mission and kept them motivated with words of encouragement from God. When they returned to their U.S. base in December 2008 without several of their "brothers", Lcp Cowart was given the honor of escorting the families of the fallen to a ceremony where he shared with the familes the love of Christ his fallen brothers all shared.
